Housing/Ride Share

There is a special message board file in Google Drive where you can make it known that:

  • You have an available room for rent in your cottage
  • You are interested in finding a room in a cottage
  • You’re looking for others who want to rent a cottage together
  • You need a ride to or from the Traverse City or Pellston airports
  • You are looking to carpool cross-country

Please post your request on the Google Drive – Housing and Transportation Message Board .

Housing Information

August is peak tourist season in Petoskey, Michigan, so it is never too early to secure your housing. I would suggest reviewing the information on the BVWOH website: https://weekofhandbells.com/2026-information/#Housing_Transportation

The Dorm is the cheapest alternative but be forewarned that it is very basic. There is no air conditioning and you need to bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels. The beds are dormitory beds, thus not super comfortable, but each room has its own bathroom. While no food service is provided, there is a microwave and communal fridge available. There are often cottage groups who are more than happy to welcome a dorm resident to share a meal or two with them. If you want more details about dorm living, you are welcome to contact Carmen Massaro at weekofhandbells@gmail.com.

Cottage Life: This is special part of the Bay View experience for many. Small groups of ringers go together and rent a cottage for the week, planning and cooking their own meals. You can check out rental options on these websites:

Inns and hotels in the area are numerous. The only two “on campus” are:

Both are very lovely but a bit pricey. If you plan to stay in a hotel, look and book sooner than later. As time goes by they will completely fill up, with the least expensive options going first. Most have a free cancellation policy by a certain date, so you may want to have a “bird in the hand” as you beat the bushes for other options.
